Tom Kerns, Founder and President of the HK Community Fund of Maplewood & South Orange,  who recently retired from Wall Street after a successful 30 year career, brings his expertise to the youth of Maplewood and South Orange in a mini series of workshops on personal finance for youth.

Developing sound money management skills is critical for everyone.  Good habits start early in life and the savings habit brings lifelong benefits.  However, learning the basics of financing and banking can scare even the most hardened adult, never mind young people.  It is our goal to remove the mystery and fear from the concepts of money by appling an inquiry based learning approach to teach the ABCs of Money in a way that will be fun, logical and easy to understand.

“The ABCs of Money” are for students in grades 7 through 12 and will be taught in 3 sessions.  The sessions will be from 3:30pm to 4:45pm on Thursday, November 18th, Thursday, December 9th and Thursday December 16th.  For further information please contact programs@mwsohkfc.org or call 973.762.4062.
