    The Foundations Center of Maplewood and South Orange, (the “Center”), seeks to empower the youth our our community and enhance their sense of self and belonging through dynamic programming. The Center’s unique approach encourages creative self-expression through the illustration of the practical importance of academic skills such as literacy and arithmetic and the related application to digital media productions.

    The Center applies an “inquiry-based learning” approach whereby the Center’s Scholars will participate in the planning, development and evaluation of their media and community civic engagement projects under the guidance of the Center’s facilitators.

    Photoshop Jr Grades 6-8

    Let your child use his/her wildest imagination to create a virtual world of his own using Photoshop CS5.  The first in a series of courses that provide instruction on how to use Photoshop CS5 to create professional-looking images for both print and the Web.  In this course, students will learn about image copyright, identify the components of the Photoshop environment, learn about the differences between rater and vector graphics, and learn how to use Adobe Bridge.

    Students will learn to select specific image areas and will learn how to modify and manipulate selections.  In addition, students will learn how to work with text, layers and layer effects; how to adjust, retouch, and resize images; and how to prepare images for printing and the Web.

    Registration begins August 15th.  For further information, please email programs@mwsohkfc.org or call 973.762.4062.  There is a $35.00 registration fee and seating is limited.
    Workshop dates are Tuesdays September 27th through October 20th  from 3:45 to 5:00 pm.

    The Foundations Center of SOMa follows the school district's calendar and will be closed Monday, January 16th in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

    Community Service

  • Please join HKCF and spend your time this holiday season with the families that Interfaith Hopsitality Network have staying at Morrow Church. There are 3 families with 10 children 4 teens 6 children under age 8. You can stop by from 7pm - 9pm weeknights and 9am - 6pm Weekends.
