These workshops are open to kids Grades 7 & 8 encourage children to explore their worlds as they photograph scenes from their own lives that serve as they  as a catalyst for verbal and written expression. Our world is dominated by visual images and the written word. It is important to know how to express yourself, both verbally and in writing. Writing photography promotes visual literacy and writing into a program that interconnects photo-based image making with a variety of writing techniques to improve self expression. The power of photography and writing are combined so that participants learn to tell their story or the story of the world around them. Workshop participants are given the opportunity to create images of self, family, community, dreams, and the environment. These images then serve as the catalyst for written works.

Your child will be introduced to iPhoto and Aperture to enhance and modify their photos in an environment that encourages collaboration among peers and senior peer mentors.  For further information on this workshop and community project, please email programs@mwsohkfc.org.
